Sheraton Towers Hotel Interview
Wednesday, February 13, 2008, 3:13 PM
1st of all, reluctantly woke up at 6.50am, just to go to sch for less than an hour due to the interview at 12.30pm. Went into class at 8.35am, started preparing my tie and tying it so last minute-ly. I've totally loss the idea of how to tie a tie lol, wat a laughing stock? Sir Bernard changed classrooms, from MCormick to Sia Huat Demo kitchens. Settled down beside Leonard and discussing about the interview and getting ready. Memorising the backgrounds and histories of the hotel(waste of my time), why?
We left the class at bout 9.45am and started moving out to Sheraton Towers Hotel. Reach the hotel at 10.10am, and went into the lobby. Visited the toilet and did our final touch-ups, then headed to the concierge and asked: "Excuse me, may i know where is the Human Resource Dept.?" Then the service staff replied: "Oh! You have to head out then turn left and walk straight following the road, then turn left again and change your security pass there, head into the building and you'll see the HR Dept." Rather friendly staff I would say.
We changed pass and headed in for the HR Dept., then waited and cool down for another 10-15mins. Leonard walked over to the door written, 'Human Resource" and knocked, then walked in. Taking out with him a piece of application form, and he busily filled it up. I sat quietly and wait patiently. Went out to take 5, then headed back thru that door and saw Leonard still sitting there. I ask him why is he still outside, and he replied: "They asked me to wait for them to call my name." I was like, "Oh ok."(*roll eyes)
In a shortwhile, Leonard headed in again after he had been called. While he is having his short interview with the HR Executive, I took an application form from another girl from HR Dept. and quickly filled it up. After that I handled in mine too and once again waiting outside patiently for my turn. Then seeing Leonard walking out and I ask: "How was it?" He replied: "Hmm, ok lor." Then he says have to wait for the Chef De Partie for another interview. After about 5mins, my name was called, and I headed in. Went thru the procedures Leonard went thru. Then came out again and wait for my turn to be called by the Chef De Partie.
After Leonard came out from the kitchen, it's my turn and followed the Chef De Partie. Was introduced to the Executive Chef,
Nobuyuki Taguchi, a Japanese Chef whom lived in US for sometime I assumed, cause heard him saying about US culture during the interview. During the interview, they ask me a lot of questions like, "Tell me more about yourself", then suddenly my mind went blank but after thinking for a while, something came out of my mouth. Luckily my mind was able to think after a while, if not I think I will be like a
mute/dumb thruout the whole interview. Furthermore, the Chef De Partie was there too and adding a lot of points, like smoking questions, discipline, etc. It took us quite sometime to finish and wrap up the interview.
Well headed home after everything ended with Leonard. What a tired day!
Oh yah, before i stop, why i mention it's stupid to have read up so much about the history and backgrounds about the hotel itself? They didn't ask much about the history and background. So I'm silly to actually find details about the hotel. Sigh...
Aite, everyone! I shall go have a short nap now, later going out. Ciao! =)
